We often are determined to make change hard. I once saw a couple that was having major problems because the wife did not want to clean the house and the husband did not think it was his job. Except for this one thing, they told me, they were very happy. I said to them, “You can spend years in therapy, or you can pay a cleaning lady. A cleaning service will by far be a lot cheaper and take a lot less time.” Somewhere they had learned that it is easier to leave a relationship than it is to figure out a solution. As you grow wiser you realize that leaving something you don’t want to deal with only creates a life that doesn’t deal you what you could have experienced.
