I honor the east, whose aspect is life. I welcome the birth of life, which reflects new beginnings. I see the new in my life right now. A new beginning is always here if I allow it. I honor air—the element of the east and an element in my body. I honor the winged creatures and thank them for their teachings. I thank them for their ability to remind me every day of the value of “flying over” all the circumstances in my life and seeing them as an overview rather than the only view. I thank them for their ability to show me how beautiful it is to simply be a bird and be it with grace. I honor the spiritual tools of cutting away. I recognize the inner power in my life to release and let go, to cut away energetically the relationships—whether they are people, places, or things—that no longer serve the direction I must go on my soul journey. I honor the spirits and guides of the east. May they be present with me this day and in this circle.

I honor the south, whose aspect is light. I welcome the light that I am innately birthed to be. I honor fire—the element of the south and an element in my body. I honor the fire within my solar plexus, the passion of my creativity. I am on fire for my life and am discovering the mystery of being an awakened spirit. I honor the crawling creatures. [When I am leading groups and they are repeating after me, I say this again.] I honor the crawling creatures—yes, each and every one of them. I thank them for their teachings. They teach me and remind me that we must all crawl from time to time in our lives and that we crawled for a long time before we walked.

We often forget that we ever crawled, yet we did when we were little, and we still do. We crawl through various moments of our lives when we endure change, when we lighten our load, or when we move from one phase to the next. We crawl when through death or change we say good-bye to something we love deeply. We crawl when we move from the shadows into the light as we grow out of duality or realize duality is an illusion.

I honor the spiritual tools of balance. May I remember balance as a necessity for everyday application. May I remember not to be against something unless I am for something. May I remember not to disown something unless I own something. May I remember I am woman, yet I am man. I am masculine and I am feminine. May I realize that balance is more than self-scheduling; it is a daily way of living one’s life and provides more choices for self-actualization. I honor the spirits and guides from the south. May they be present with me this day and in this circle.

I honor the west, whose aspect is love. I honor water—the element of the west and an element in my body. I recognize the value of water in my life. My body is more than 90 percent water. I honor the creatures of the deep. I give thanks for their teaching that I may go to the depth of myself to truly understand what love is and that love can transform all of life’s ailments and woes. I honor the spiritual tools of containment. I understand that it is my container that expands or limits my ability to love. How much love can I have? How large am I willing to let the container of my open heart be? I honor the spirits and guides from the west. May they be present with me this day and in this circle.

After several months of repeatedly doing this ritual, you will start to notice all the connections and how they work together for your High-way. All these energies, totems, and sacred teachers will change your life by changing you, if you will let them.
