We especially create sides concerning men and women. We are determined to make the sexes so different, so unique, and often at odds with each other. We learn techniques, styles, and ways of communicating with the opposite sex so we can ultimately be heard and feel connected. We have more information than we have ever had, yet we still have a divorce rate of more than 50 percent. Don’t you think this is odd?
People are attempting to have a relationship with someone else when they do not even have a relationship with themselves. When heterosexual women discover that I am in a very healthy and long-lasting relationship with a wonderful woman, they often say to me, “Well, perhaps I ought to try the other side and see how that goes.” However, the difference is not whether you are with a man or a woman; the difference is how you are with yourself. How you are with yourself will always be the deciding factor in how someone else relates to you. The sex and shape of the person will not change that.
