Perhaps you felt fear and did the thing you feared anyway, but the fear came back. If this is the case, then most likely the fear wasn’t truly felt; it was simply processed through thinking it away rather than feeling it away. Fear will return time and again until the individual goes deep inside and does not hold back. It’s like painting with new paint on top of preexisting paint that is cracking on the wall. You can paint on top of it, but it will not last. New paint will last only if you invest the time it takes to scrape away the old and then apply the new.
